We will very soon find out what it looks like and I'm confident it will evolve into whatever 'works best.' The monetization portion of it is still top secret -- so far there are only guesses. It is also something that will evolve. We are now in a very different market dynamics than when the Apple App Store launched (which is often a reference point in platform discussions).
I bet OpenAI will surprise us but of course, nobody can please everybody, everywhere, all the time. If OpenAI wants their store to succeed, they better listen to GPT developers and provide the right incentives for them to continue developing GPTs. So far, I've seen positive indications that OpenAI is listening on developer forums -- but ultimately it is the GPT users that will determine what will shape the success of the store. Right now there are usage caps for ChatGPT+ even for developers (unless they have an Enterprise license), so that is a real roadblock for casual builders under usage caps when testing their GPTs.
Stay tuned. I will be reporting on this frequently -- it's a hot subject and I instantly share what I learn in this space through my blog ... but also soon, very soon, via a GPT. Exciting times! Cheers.
