It's a pretty eye candy indeed... they do get help from their users who favour the images in their gallery. What is interesting though, this isn't 'the best' work done in Midjourney -- the magazine is a selection from submissions of images to be rated by user community. Plenty of amazing work is going unnoticed. Some of the more serious and/or commercial creators pay high premium Pro Plan to prevent their images from being visible to others on the Midjourney website.
