Cur[s]ed by Aporia Vol. 1

Art prevents the mind from becoming a torture chamber.

He was a painter and illustrator, also my friend and my guide into little-known corners of art, literature, and cinema. We could spend hours discussing the influence of quantum physics on the emergence of Cubism, what Kafka said between the lines of Metamorphosis, or what would happen if we entered the Room in the Zone from Tarkovsky’s Stalker.

Peter passed away a year ago today during a rising wave of COVID; I could only attend his funeral in Bangkok via WhatsApp stream. This book is a tribute to his art and my token of gratitude for his friendship. To Peter David Prout [1957–2021] and all similarly cursed and cured by aporia: we salute you!
